About MCW and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine

MCW is a major academic medical center, a large, multispecialty practice, and the largest research institution in the Milwaukee metro area.  MCW is a distinguished leader and innovator in the education and development of the next generation of physicians, scientists, pharmacists and health professionals; we discover and translate new knowledge in the biomedical and health sciences; we provide cutting-edge, collaborative, patient care of the highest quality; and we improve the health of the communities we serve. The Medical College of Wisconsin is one of only two Medical Schools in Wisconsin and in partnership with Froedtert Hospital and the Froedtert Health System and Medical College Physicians, with more than 1,250 physicians serve Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin

Our academic practice consists of over 60 cardiologists, backed by cutting-edge equipment and modern facilities. Within the division of cardiovascular medicine, all the essential resources are readily available to carry out a comprehensive range of coronary and structural interventions. These encompass procedures such as complex coronary intervention, transcatheter valve replacement, as well as edge-to-edge repair for both mitral and tricuspid valves.

We have a vibrant Advanced Heart Failure program, showcasing a consistent upswing in the volume of heart transplants and placements of left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). To bolster this, we've established a formal MCS (Mechanical Circulatory Support), ECMO, and Shock team. This expert team is dedicated to promptly receiving and managing the transfer of critically ill patients to our advanced quaternary care center.

Our EP (Electrophysiology) program provides the pinnacle of care, spanning a broad spectrum of services. This includes procedures like complex arrhythmia ablations, laser lead extractions, and closure of the left atrial appendage. Alongside these specialized interventions, we also deliver routine EP care to meet diverse patient needs.

In the realm of imaging, our section is tasked with interpreting complex studies across various modalities, such as cardiac MRI, cardiac CT, and cardiac PET. Furthermore, our imaging experts play an integral role in our structural heart program. They perform and analyze both transthoracic and transesophageal studies of a complex nature.

Beyond these impressive capabilities, our partnership with Children's Hospital of Wisconsin has given rise to a robust adult congenital heart disease program. This collaboration, with the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, a leading institution in pediatric cardiovascular care nationwide, ensures comprehensive and coordinated care across all age groups.

There will be an excellent compensation and benefits package available through MCW.

Patient Care: Clinical effort will be primarily focused in one of our community sites: Moorland Reserve, Froedtert Menomonee Falls, West Bend, or Mequon. This effort will consist approximately of two and a half days of clinic and one and a half days of imaging reading. Hospital coverage at Froedtert Hospital (largest hospital in the state) may be an option.

Research, Teaching, and Scholarly Activities: Opportunities for teaching and research may exist with dedicated 10-20% of academic / administrative time

Administration/Service: The candidate will be expected to participate actively in multi-disciplinary conferences organized by the Division.
