Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Clinical Research Center at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Staff Nurse, under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager of Clinical Research Center (CRC) will perform duties within the CRC as assigned by the nurse manager to ensure successful, patient-oriented, safe and effective conduct of clinical trials in the CRC.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists in investigations to prepare and implement new clinical trials.
  • Screens and enrolls study participants following CRC standard operating procedures.
  • Provides protocol related clinical management to participants while on study, including phlebotomy, ECG, other study specified procedures and point of care tests as needed.
  • Provides direct patient care or direction and supervision to other health care team members to ensure proper implementation of plan of care.
  • Explains procedures and treatments to patient and significant others to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
  • Reports all necessary information and/or unusual occurrences in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Documents all aspects of research participants care, Completes Clinical Report forms (CRFs).

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with a license to practice in the state of NJ.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Licensed to practice in the State of NJ.
  • Maintains active Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Must also maintain International Air Transport Association (IATA), Lab Safety and Human subjects (CITI) certification.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent organizational skills, be proficient in computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.), possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to maximize resources and be resourceful.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience in clinical research.
  • Association of Clinical Research Professional certification as a Clinical Research Analyst (CRA) or Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) certification as a Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).
  • Spanish speaking a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Position requires standing/walking 2/3 of time. Position requires ability to be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment: Office environment. Moderate Noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, and/or exposure to infectious and communicable disease. Also, possible exposure to anti-neoplastic and biologic drugs. Proper precautions will be taught and are mandatory.
