Student Health Center

Salary Range: $4,083 - $7,649/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. exact schedule to be determined; exempt classification.

Essential Job Functions: This position provides nursing care to student/patients by performing a variety of skilled nursing procedures and fulfills the responsibilities of a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) in the Student Health Center Counseling and Psychological Services Clinic, Dental Clinic, and Optometry Clinic. Duties include, but are not limited to: patient screening and triage; evaluating the urgency and severity of chief complaint, completing a risk assessment, and obtaining brief psychological and/or medical history; preparing patients for examination by providers; managing provider schedules and charting patient information in medical records system; and administering medications and treatments as ordered by a licensed Student Health Center clinician.

Required Qualifications and Experience: The incumbent must have one year of progressively responsible professional work experience as a Registered Nurse with the ability to work independently in specialized nursing activities and with knowledge of areas including, but not limited to, triage and assessment, patient counseling, and development and implementation of nursing procedures and protocols. The incumbent must also possess and maintain a valid as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and certification in Healthcare Provider CPR. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Experience working in a mental health care clinic and/or college mental health services setting; with patient mental health triage, assessment and evaluation for the purpose of assigning treatment priority; and documenting in electronic medical records systems. Excellent customer service skills and knowledge of HIPAA.
