Job Summary

The Staff Human Resources Leave of Absence / Employee Relations Analyst provides operational support, analysis, and guidance for Staff HR Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) leaves and employee relations programs. 


Key Responsibilities

Consults with employees regarding workplace accommodation options under FEHA and ADA. Coordinates accommodations with Administrative Services Managers (ASMs) and departments. Maintain a leave of absence spreadsheet to track employee's time on FML and prepare FML letters and notifications. Identifies leaves that overlap with Equity & Diversity and Workers Compensation and refers the cases to the corresponding department in a timely manner.

Coordinates the permanent status process for temporary and probationary employees. Work includes creating and providing reports to ASMs, drafting employee letters and transaction documentation, and reviewing monthly end date reports for employees who are eligible for permanent status. Coordinates the performance evaluation process for all staff and management employees.

Provides quality customer service to campus staff and applicants at the counter, over the telephone, and via email, answering a wide variety of questions, providing referrals to the appropriate person and/or department, and assisting with various requests. Supports the Staff HR office with various clerical duties.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general human resources practices and campus procedures and policies.
  • General knowledge of ADA, FEHA and other leave-related laws and policies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to compose letters and memos in a professional and business-like manner.
  • Ability to interact in a positive, professional manner with staff, ASMs, union representatives and managers.
  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Proven ability to research and understand learn HR-related university policies and develop a wide variety of procedures relating to office administration standards and policies.
  • Ability to handle employee relations, labor relations and leave of absence matters in a public sector higher education union environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic calendaring.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience required.

Time Base

Full-time temporary position for 11 months with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.


Salary

$3,788 to $4,583 per month.
