Staff Electromechanical Engineer

The Staff Electromechanical Engineer will be generally responsible for progress in early stage proof of concept devices and pursuing paths to facilitate transition of academic research into commercial products. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Design and conduct experiments to identify and optimize key metrics relevant to system performance
  • Perform systems engineering tasks such as requirements development, trade-off analysis, reliability analysis, and risk management
  • Conduct business development activities, under the guidance of platform leadership and Wyss BD staff, including competitive analysis, user studies, and industry outreach
  • Communicate results to relevant stakeholders both orally and in writing
  • Mentor and coach junior staff and academic lab members

This is a term position through 6/30/2020.

B.S. in engineering, physical sciences or related field required. Four years of experience working with research and development, prototyping, fabrication, design or related fields required. Advanced Education may count towards years of experience.
M. S. preferred. Interdisciplinary technical design skills are desirable, e.g. electromechanical design; skill in state of the art mathematical software for control and data analysis (e.g. MATLAB, LabView, Python); proficiency with 3D modeling and rendering software (e.g. Rhino, Unity3D, Autodesk Fusion); expertise in digital fabrication methods; experience in materials selection and characterization; strong organizational skills, creativity, motivation, and communication (oral and written) ability extremely beneficial; willing to tackle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic team environment; candidates should have a willingness to work outside of their discipline to accomplish project goals.
