Staff Clinician & Group Coordinator - Georgetown University

Georgetown's Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) serves as the university's primary mental health service for our students. Our central mission is to collaborate directly with students in overcoming difficulties that may interfere with their well-being and the accomplishment of their educational, personal, and career goals.

The Staff Clinician & Group Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Overseeing the groups program, planning the number of groups needed, leaders, space

  • Reviewing, editing and constructing group agreements and client handouts on group

  • Ensuring group policy and agreements are understood and upheld by staff and trainees

  • Facilitating staff peer supervision regarding group practice, including a biweekly one-hour staff group supervision

  • Leading core groups that make up the group therapy offerings at CAPS

  • Presenting on group theory and dynamics for training seminar for our predoctoral externs and postdoctoral fellows

  • Providing licensed supervision to our unlicensed trainees co-facilitating group

  • Serving as a primary consultation for group related crises, questions and ethical dilemmas for staff

  • Serving as the point person for fielding group program related questions from students and campus partners throughout the year

  • Serving as a consultant to campus stakeholders and students who request support in facilitating informal support spaces on campus throughout the year 

Work Interactions

The Staff Clinician & Group Coordinator provides service to students, consultations to deans and faculty regarding student issues, and consultation to other CAPS staff and Student Health Service staff.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a related field or an MSW

  • Licensure in the District of Columbia as a social worker or psychologist

For psychologists only: If not yet licensed, preference for within one year (maximum 2 years) of the start date.

Preferred qualifications

  • College mental health experience

  • Demonstrable experience working with the issues noted above
