Job Overview

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is looking for qualified individuals to apply for the Staff Clinician position and join our energetic, multidisciplinary, culturally informed collaborative team of mental health professionals. This clinical staff member of CAPS will serve the needs of students at the University of Cincinnati, in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) & College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). DAAP & CCM are comprised of a diverse student body, both graduate and undergraduate programs. We are seeking applicants who have interest and experience working with first-generation college students, students of color, and in an urban campus community.


Essential Functions
  • Provide direct clinical counseling services to university students .
  • Plan and coordinate psychological/counseling programs at the University.
  • Consult with other professionals and organizational units regarding counseling needs.
  • Develop and provide outreach to students, faculty, and staff. Serve as liaison for counseling center to the university community and community agencies. 
  • Plan and supervise the practicum of graduate clinical students, residents, or other trainees assigned. 
  • Participate in training program(s) within the counseling center. 
  • Develop and coordinate programs within the counseling center. 
  • Collect data, create reports and proposals for program coordination. 
  • Keep abreast of developments in professional field. 
  • Represent the department on committees. 

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Doctorate Degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology (PhD or PsyD).


Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Must be independently licensed or licensed eligible as a psychologist, social worker, or clinical counselor in the State of Ohio, with the ability to supervise in their discipline.
  • License must be achieved within six (6) months of date of employment.

Required Experience

Three (3) years of clinical experience.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Experience working in a college or university counseling center or another academic environment
  • Experience working as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Familiarity working with under-represented students and students from marginalized groups
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed interventions
  •  Experience working a diverse student body involved in visual & performing arts in an urban campus environment.
  • Interest in using a collaborative/team approach in supporting health and wellness

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
