The Moritz College of Law, in conjunction with The Greif Foundation, is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for a one year position as the Greif Fellow in Juvenile Human Trafficking for 2018-19.
The Greif Fellow will receive referrals from community partners who encounter juvenile trafficking victims. The Fellow will provide quality representation in resulting legal matters, carrying a caseload of up to 50 youth victims at a time. Those cases will include representation in delinquency cases, where juveniles face the possibility of incarceration in a detention center or youth prison, out of home placement, fines, and probation or community service. The Fellow will assist in filing petitions alleging that the juveniles are in need of children services resources, including housing, assistance in learning independent living skills, and re-building family relationships. If a represented youth also has children, the Fellow will work to keep that family together and safe, utilizing the courts when necessary and appropriate. If a juvenile needs to adjust her immigration status in order to become a lawful permanent resident, the Fellow will identify and pursue the appropriate legal remedy.
The Greif Fellow will practice in Franklin and surrounding counties, including Delaware, Fairfield, Licking, Logan, and Union counties. The Fellow will maintain alliances with local providers in order to identify victims and maintain referral systems. The Fellow will directly serve children while gaining expertise in juvenile human trafficking and building connections with community agencies serving this population. It is anticipated that the Fellow will use the fellowship experience to move into a permanent public interest law position. This position is up to a one year appointment.

To be considered for this position, a resume, list of three references, law transcript, writing sample of 3-5 pages, and cover letter outlining commitment to public service and knowledge of juvenile human trafficking issues must be submitted with applications. Applications are due by December 3, 2018. Interviews will take place during the first week in December, 2018 at the College of Law.

J.D.; applicants should be self-starters who can work well with clinic faculty, staff, clients, project partners, and all other diverse constituents; Ohio Bar Exam passage will be required; applicant must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
Members of the Moritz class of 2018 who have passed the July 2018 bar exam and have a demonstrated commitment to public service are invited to apply. Participation in the Justice for Children Clinic is not required but preferred. Selected Fellow will be supervised by Associate Clinical Professor Kimberly Jordan and will serve from approximately December, 2018 – November 30, 2019. The Fellow will be expected to assist in transition and training the 2019-20 Fellow during Fall, 2019.
