Assist the Director and Research Project Manager of TUNL (Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory) with performing a variety of administrative duties, with latitude for exercising discretion and judgment.

Oversee day to day operational tasks for TUNL to include, but not limited to: administrative tasks, purchasing, procurement, parking, events coordination and management, and research correspondence.

Serves as first point of contact for TUNL programming. Manage ordering process (including negotiation with external vendors), ordering through Buy@Duke, Goods Receipts, and final disposition of invoicing and payment to vendors. Liaise with Facilities Management for any work order issues in any of the labs or centers. Manage assigned projects and financial project portfolios in support of the Center. Coordinate parking for visiting researchers and students. Maintain and coordinate safekeeping and distribution of keys for visiting researchers and students. Manage mail (collection, distribution, and processing).  Plan, coordinate, and provide oversight for TUNL Seminars. Convert paper files to electronic files as directed by the Research Project Manager and TUNL Director. Plan and coordinate visits to the facility by distinguished guests, in accordance with Duke guest policies. Plan and coordinate related events as necessary including travel and reimbursements. Assist TUNL Director with other items that may arise.


Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in secretarial science or a related business field.


Experience

Work generally requires four years of related secretarial/clerical experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities.  OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
