Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid and Senior Admissions Officer, Interfaculty Social Sciences, the Staff Assistant III provides comprehensive support for a wide range of complex administrative tasks in a busy office.  


Position Description

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Provides general information and responds to a variety of admissions and financial aid inquiries from students, staff, and departments.  
  • Manages student records and files and updates database information using a variety databases and materials.  
  • Assists with production and review of reports, edits and updates financial aid forms, publications, and other materials.  
  • Processes admissions and financial aid applications, coordinates admissions.
  • processes activities and assists in the production of admissions materials.  
  • Coordinates title IV materials for the Interfaculty Programs.
  • Maintains busy calendars and schedules meetings.  
  • Provides general support as needed for other areas of the admissions and financial aid office, including some phone coverage at the reception desk.  
  • Related job duties as required. 

Basic Qualifications

College background with at least two years of work experience in an office environment.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • B.A. preferred with 3 years related office experience.  
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.  
  • Highly positive customer service attitude with ability to interact professionally with a variety of constituents.  
  • Ability to handle a high volume of complex tasks and projects within deadlines is essential.  
  • Ability to respond with flexibility to shifting priorities. 
  • Must work well both independently and as a team player.  
  • Solid understanding of financial principles; proven experience working with financial issues and meticulous attention to detail.  
  • Strong computer skills required.  
  • Knowledge of Harvard helpful, but not required. 

Working Conditions

This position will be based in Cambridge, MA and will require an on-campus presence. All hybrid work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT). Human Resources Consulting is currently developing hybrid workplace models which actively support some remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and team needs allow. Furthermore, individual flexible and hybrid work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process.
