The Staff Assistant III reports to the Assistant Director of Events and Core Fellows and to the Executive Director for Administration of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School.  With minimal supervision, performs a wide range of complex and confidential administrative and clerical support duties as well as provides secretarial, administrative, and event support to senior fellows and on occasion the Director’s office. 
Please note this is a full time, benefited term appointment from one year of the date of hire with the possibility of renewal.
  • Provides office support including travel arrangements, processing reimbursements, and appointment paperwork for core fellows. 
  • Maintains International Council portion of the website and invoices members. 
  • Serves as the fellowship application coordinator for the Center, and maintains the Fellowship section of the website.
  • Coordinates the application process and supports programs during the review and decision stage. 
  • Requires excellent communications and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide information to a wide range of internal and external contacts.
  • Acts as part of the core staff team (ie. provides coverage back up when necessary).
Two years of office experience required.
  • College background preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills along with excellent computer skills
  • Familiarity with Harvard preferred
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible under pressure
  • Ability to take initiative and work under deadlines, ability to work well independently and set priorities; good judgment, confidentiality, tact, and discretion a must. 
  • Adaptability and ability to work well in a high energy, deadline-oriented and demanding environment are important.
  • Knowledge of and interest in international affairs preferred.
