Organizational Unit Overview
Academic Library Services (ALS) is part of Academic Affairs and reports through the Provost/Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. ALS serves East Carolina University faculty, students, staff, and community by providing library resources and services to support the mission of the University. Job Duties
This position manages the general collection and compact stacks within ALS, supervises student employees, and provides service to patrons at the Circulation & Interlibrary Loan Desk.
The main job duties are: maintenance of general circulating, compact, new books, media, and popular reading collections; This position provides courteous and supportive service to patrons at the Circulation & Interlibrary Loan service desk; This position supervises desk and stacks student employees; committee service and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Academic library experience; customer service experience; and supervisory experience; especially of college student employees are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to follow established procedures, enforce rules, and perform work requiring considerable detail and accuracy; initiative and ingenuity; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse patrons and personnel; ability to work consistently and reliably in an unsupervised capacity; problem-solving skills; and ability to learn complex tasks quickly are preferred.
