POSITION SUMMARY

Serves as the primary contributor and consultant to patient care and revenue cycle services in the planning, design, development, delivery and evaluation of training, adoption and optimization in the integrated clinical information systems that support and enhance revenue cycle, clinical practice, administrative and management needs and patient outcomes.  Acts as the principle training and optimization resource with clinical and operational knowledge and application education expertise to coordinate and provide support for all new and current applications and software upgrades applicable to the clinical and revenue cycle systems.  Responsible for the assessment, planning, design, delivery and evaluation of all training efforts of clinical or revenue cycle applications. Assists in the review of existing workflows and processes; works collaboratively with operational experts to define future state workflows of clinical or revenue cycle applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The duties of this position are performed under the general review and supervision of the Director, IHIS Training & Optimization.  Competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of application education while considering the implications of the application of technology to the current and future environment. 

10% TRAINING ENVIRONMENT BUILD AND MAINTENANCE

1. Design a training environment to support the curriculum

2. Build patient scenarios in IHIS

3. Responsible for the analysis, design and development of the IHIS application for training purposes including the building and maintaining of the environment

4. Rebuild the training environment after each major upgrade

20% ANALYSIS/ASSESSMENT PLANNING

1. Assesses training needs. Determines specific training needs of the organization, department and end user.

2. Integrates the capabilities of the application with the demands and needs of the end user

3. Communicates with end users during all phases of a project

4. Assists in the development of an organizational communication strategy to support change management and training needs

5. Assists in the analysis and evaluation of existing or proposed clinical information systems, workflows and processes; works collaboratively with operational experts to define future state workflows of clinical applications.

6. Serves as a liaison between customer department and IT Department to coordinate needs assessment, impact statements, resource utilization, systems requirements, and integration methodologies.

7. Provides and recommends innovative ideas, processes and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, modifications to improve the existing clinical systems.

8. Advises the build teams on system enhancements

9. Responsible for managing complex clinical applications training issues and problems; provides technical support in response to user problems and questions regarding training, functionality, operations, input/output, reporting and general operating procedures.

20% INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT/IMPLEMENTATION

1. Develops philosophy of training which drives the development of classroom and eLearning initiatives

2. Designs execution strategies to include rooms, instructors, support staff

3. Designs instructor-led and eLearning strategies to be used in executing the training plan

4. Facilitates/organizes cross application integration into the training plan

15% DELIVERY

1. Executes the training plan

2. Re-engineers products to assure high quality training

3. Implements training/communication to assure staff is kept up-to-date with the latest information

4. Coordinates end user communication and training for all system changes.

30% PROJECT MANAGEMENT/ADMINISTRATIVE

1. Coordinates optimization activities and initiatives across the organization

2. Leads Training & Optimization projects from medium to large in scope, risk and impact; leads and facilitates the training of new and existing products, procedures and/or workflow needs associated with clinical information systems and applications for the Medical Center.

3. Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff

4. Trains and oversees the work of Credentialed Trainers

5. Develops and maintains networks of super users within specialty areas

6. Utilizes networks of super users to assure end user familiarity with system changes and enhancements

7. Provides subject matter input in the development of both technical and end-user user training manuals, policies and procedures

8. If Certification is required for your role, you are expected to obtain and maintain your certification as a condition of employment

5% OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Practices within the Medical Center's policies and procedures.  Adheres to the Intensive Caring Value statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, and formulating and meeting developmental goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-A Bachelor’s degree in a clinical or related field: Masters Degree preferred

- 3 – 4 years of technical education experience required

-Typically has 4-8 years experience in education/staff development and/or a clinical area,                 preferably a combination of both clinical experience and education.

-Demonstrates the ability to learn and utilize new clinical applications software and systems.

-Extensive experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their training, business and technical requirements.

-Extensive knowledge of adult learning principles and demonstrated experience in their use when developing training plans

-Strong project and process management skills; ability to manage complex projects with a medium to large scope.

-Excellent communication skills

-Knowledge and experience with hospital and information systems and business practices

-Ability to assist other team members with their technical issues

-Must be able to keep self abreast of educational and technological trends as well as healthcare technology trends
