Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, College of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a Senior Research Associate position.


Essential Functions
  • Develops and build artificial intelligence and machine learning driven solutions for evaluation and management of transportation infrastructure assets, which includes supporting software development and hardware-software integration.
  • Provides hands-on technical leadership in the development of prototype of multi-sensor systems (systems with vision, GPS, IMU, and/or LiDAR sensors)
  • Assists in the development and writing of research proposals for external funding in the area of transportation infrastructure.
  • Prepares technical reports and publications; disseminates study results and research findings in journal and professional meetings; present at technical conferences and seminars.
  • Assists in the management of the use of the testing devices
  • Assists in the management of graduate research assistants in the execution of their research and assists in their training.
  • Provides technical assistance on related research projects.

Required Education

 M.S. in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.


Required Experience
  • Strong programming skills in Python or C++
  • Good Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Good Knowledge and experience developing and building artificial intelligence and machine learning driven solutions
  • Experience with numerical and data science libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, Tensorflow, etc.)
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • A valid Driver's License
  • Being open-minded and ability to acquire new skill set and explore new techniques to advance sciences
  • Ability to understand and implement methods from latest machine learning articles.
  • Good knowledge in pavement design as well as pavement structures and materials performance evaluation
