Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.

 

A full time Sr Research Assistant position is available in the laboratory of Konstantinos Drosatos, PhD in the Department of Pharmacology & Systems Physiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The incumbent will assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline, make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience.

 


Essential Functions
  • Independently perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
  • May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry.
  • Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
  • Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
  • Organize data search and analysis procedures.
  • Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
  • Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
  • Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
  • Serve as seasoned professional.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).  
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

Research experience in cardiovascular research laboratory.

 


Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
