Stephenson Cancer Center is Oklahoma’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-Designated Cancer Center, and one of only 72 NCI-Designated Cancer Centers in the United States. This highly competitive accreditation ensures that our patients receive the highest standard of care and have access to the most advanced cancer treatment options. It is the Proposal Services Team’s goal to provide the best customer service and support for the SCC’s Cancer Researchers. Selected applicants may be eligible for hybrid / remote work.

At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have an exciting new job opportunity that could be right for you! The Senior Grant Coordinator will work as a part of the Stephenson Cancer Center’s Proposal Services Team. Under general supervision, this position provides administrative support to a state or national level sponsored grant or contract program by coordinating the program activities, attending meetings, prioritizing tasks, preparing grants, distributing information, and acting as a liaison between the faculty and central offices for required university approvals. This position provides mid-level proposal coordinator duties and requires a proficient understanding of research administration concepts, guidelines and principles. The position will work closely with the Proposal Services Manager and the Director of Cancer Research and assist the team in achieving team goals and the SCC’s mission.

Duties:

  • Provides excellent customer service to Cancer Research faculty members.
  • Coordinates and assists each faculty member on various aspects of various grant applications with a strong emphasis on National Institutes of Health (NIH) applications.
  • Manage multiple tasks while adhering to sponsor deadlines.
  • Works closely with researchers and other staff members to coordinate application documents and submit compliant proposal applications.
  • Ability to organize and manage schedules to successfully meet multiple conflicting deadlines and apply self-disciplined to meeting incremental milestones.
  • Attends and hosts meetings in person and in virtual venues; may act as the facilitator to solve problems.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Provides timely responses and answers questions about the grant and the progress of the grant applications.
  • Stimulates collaboration and builds relationships in research administration nationally and within our University.
  • Track and maintain status updates to report to management on activities of the Proposal Services Team.
  • Perform special assignments as requested by the Proposal Services Manager and various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's degree AND:

  • 48 months experience coordinating a large grant or contract program or project.

Equivalency/Substitution Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 96 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of multi-tasking under deadline pressure.
  • General understanding of federal guidelines for grant applications.
  • Superior analytical, organizational, communication and time management skills.
  • Expert capabilities with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Pro.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and online grant applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of databases and electronic tools.
  • Resourceful and excellent online search engine ability to look up program guidelines and regulation.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple conflicting deadlines.
  • Capability to telecommute effectively in a team setting.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Must be able to work in sitting position, use computer and answer telephone.
  • Environmental: Standard Office Work Environment.
