Position Description

Reporting to the Senior Director of Executive and Organizational Effectiveness (EOE), the Senior Organizational Development (OD) Consultant will provide organization development consulting to senior administrative and faculty leaders in Harvard schools and departments. Key responsibilities include serving an as executive coach to senior administrative leaders and faculty leaders as well as working with leadership to foster a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and engagement.
Additional roles and responsibilities include:
  • Serve as OD consultant to senior administrative leaders and faculty leaders, including but not limited to: conducting organizational assessments and organization re-design; consulting on the design and implementation of large-scale change efforts, dynamic work strategies and strategic planning; working with leadership to foster a culture of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and engagement.
  • Collect, share and publicize resources, tools and best practices for key initiatives, and convene relevant communities of learning.
  • Facilitate leadership development workshops for senior administrative leaders and faculty leaders.
  • Develop and implement organization development solutions in partnership with related HHR departments and local school/unit leadership.
  • Collaborate with relevant Center for Workplace Development (CWD) colleagues in developing intervention strategies.
  • Represent CWD and Harvard Human Resources (HHR) on University and external committees.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Master's degree in organizational development (or related area) preferred along with a minimum of eight years OD consulting experience.
  • Three years of leadership coaching experience required.
  • International Coaching Federation(ICF) recognized coaching program completion OR an advanced degree in counseling or related field is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in consulting skills working with executives and large-scale interventions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a broad array of leadership and organization development areas, with an emphasis on organization design, strategy development, implementing change, and organizational culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly assess organizational needs and culture and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Demonstrates insight and creativity and offers options and solutions when approaching issues or problems.
  • Is proactive in identification and communication of issues or barriers that may impede an initiative or compromise its success and uses critical thinking skills to identify and determine alternative solutions/approaches.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly and concisely share information and ideas with a range of senior audiences.
  • Strong qualitative research skills.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the organization and to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid role requiring 2-8 days per month on-campus, including regularly scheduled and short notice meetings, as determined by client needs.
Work is performed in an office setting
