  • JOB DUTIES

Description

In this role, you will provide direct patient care to pediatric patients and some adults at the Children’s Health Center clinic in Westwood. This outpatient clinic offers general and specialty care for children of all ages and you will work closely with clinic management, physicians, residents, nurses, and other clinical staff to provide world-class services. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Assist with pediatric procedures * Perform venipuncture and blood draws * Administer tests and medications (PO, IM, SQ, PR, Intradermal, Topical, Inhalants, Eye drops, Ear drops) * Collect specimens * Take and record vitals and patient information * Manage patient flow * Maintain patient rooms stocked and clean You will also provide support in the care of allergy patients by administering immunotherapy injections, performing skin prick tests, spirometry, and other procedures, at the direction and oversight of the Senior LVN Supervisor and the Allergy attending. This position may be asked to travel to Santa Monica to provide coverage at the Santa Monica Pediatric Speciality Care as needed. Salary Range: $33.60-44.33 Hourly



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: * Experience providing care to Pediatric patients * Current LVN license issued by the State of California Board of Vocational Nursing * Valid IV certification * Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross * 2+ years of experience as an LVN * Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures * Excellent blood withdrawal and IV skills * Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed * Skill in administering oral, intradermal, intramuscular, subcutaneous and intravenous medication * Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician * Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems * Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers * Excellent mult-tasking abilities * Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and parents with health concerns using tact and discretion * Skill in inventory control to maintain adequate supplies and equipment * Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, Windows computer function, computer navigation, and ability to use computerized patient care systems * Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health clinics, if needed Preferred: * Knowledge and familiarity with EPIC * Bilingual in Spanish
