Job Summary | The Mills lab in the Department of Neurobiology is recruiting a Senior Lab Specialist / Lab Manager to help establish a systems neuroscience research program. Responsibilities will include developing core techniques such as stereotaxic surgery, calcium imaging, behavioral experiments and histology. Additionally, a portion of the candidate’s time will also be allocated to assisting the principle investigator in administrative and managerial aspects of establishing the lab, including ordering of equipment and preparing protocols and documentation for lab activities. Responsibilities | Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate scientific discipline or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus four years of related full-time laboratory experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
Preferences | M.Sc. (preferred), or Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or other scientific discipline or equivalency required; knowledge of complex laboratory techniques, equipment, terminology, materials and substances. Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment, ability to create and analyze statistical calculations and prepare reports required; and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required. OSHA training and certification in animal care and use or the willingness to complete the certification will be required for the position. |
