Primary Role:

The IT Senior Consultant for Technology and AI innovation Engagement functions as a vital link between DHTS and the Duke Health Integrated Practice (DHIP), ensuring a seamless integration of innovative technologies and AI applications into DHIP operations. Their responsibility includes not only introducing and advocating for cutting-edge technological solutions but also facilitating their adoption to enhance healthcare delivery and patient outcomes. A key aspect of their role involves fostering an environment of innovation within DHIP, encouraging the exploration and implementation of new technologies that can revolutionize patient care. Additionally, they serve as a bridge for communication and collaboration, ensuring that DHIP’s technological needs and IT's capabilities are aligned and effectively utilized for optimal healthcare service delivery.

Key responsibilities
•    Collaboration and Communication: Acting as the primary point of contact between DHTS and DHIP. This includes facilitating effective communication, understanding DHIP’s specific challenges and objectives, and ensuring that IT strategies are aligned with clinical needs.
•    Embedded Operations Involvement: Actively participating in the day-to-day operations of DHIP to gain an in-depth understanding of clinical workflows, challenges, and opportunities.
•    Innovation Advocacy and Strategy Development: Championing technologic innovation within DHIP. This involves staying abreast of the latest developments in healthcare technology and AI, and strategically advising on how these innovations can be leveraged to improve patient care and clinic operations.
•    Technology Integration and Adoption: Overseeing the integration of new technology and AI tools into DHIP’s daily operations. This includes assessing DHIP’s technological needs, recommending appropriate digital solutions, and managing the implementation process.
•    Training and Support: Organizing training sessions and support for DHIP staff and clinicians to ensure smooth adoption and effective use of new technologies. This also involves providing ongoing assistance to resolve any technical issues and optimize the use of technology in clinical settings.
•    Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Continuously monitoring the performance of implemented technologies and AI systems and providing regular reports on their impact on clinical operations and patient outcomes. This also involves adjusting based on feedback and evolving needs.
Skills
•    Technical Expertise in Healthcare IT: Proficiency in current healthcare technologies, AI applications, and digital health innovations. Understanding of electronic health record systems, clinical informatics, and data analytics is essential.
•    Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects effectively, including planning, implementation, and monitoring of technology integration. Skills in agile methodologies are strongly preferred.
•    Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate technical concepts to non-technical staff. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clinical staff, IT professionals, and external partners.
•    Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Capacity to identify challenges in healthcare delivery and propose innovative technology solutions. Ability to analyze data and trends to inform strategic decisions.
•    Change Management and Training Abilities: Proficiency in leading change initiatives and providing training to staff for new technology adoption. This includes understanding resistance to change and devising strategies to encourage acceptance and adoption of new systems.
•    Leadership and Teamwork: Ability to lead and motivate teams across a matrixed organization, foster a collaborative environment, and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
•    Strategic Thinking and Planning: Capability to develop and implement strategic plans that align IT capabilities with clinical objectives and overall organizational goals.
•    Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards, including privacy laws and compliance requirements like HIPAA.
•    Continuous Learning and Adaptability: Willingness to stay updated with the latest technological advancements in healthcare and adapt strategies accordingly.
•    Customer Service Orientation: Focus on meeting the needs of clinicians and patients through effective technology solutions.

Required Qualifications at this Level:
•    Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required if no degree.
•    Degree in Information Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering (Health Information Management) preferred.
Licensure(s) / Certification(s)
None required. Preferred certification in development technologies, as appropriate for the position.
