Job Summary 

The University’s primary Enterprise System is the Ellucian Banner Suite, which consists of the Banner Student, Admissions, Financial Aid, Accounts Receivables, Finance and Human Resources modules.

The Senior IT Business Analyst (ITBA) is responsible for supporting specific functional aspects of the core enterprise efforts of Drexel University or its Partner Schools.

The Senior ITBA supports the business processes for one or more functional units within the University or Partner Schools under the direction and guidance of the Assistant Vice President of Collaboration and Partnerships.  This support involves extensive understanding and knowledge of one or more modules within the University’s Enterprise System.

The Senior ITBA provides overall maintenance, project management, needs/requirement analysis, report generation for internal and/or partner clients and the goal of the Senior ITBA is to support and optimize the value derived from efficient utilization of the core enterprise system.

The Senior ITBA acts as the functional liaison between the technical experts within CES and the clients they support. The Senior ITBA acts as the primary operational support for their clients.

Essential Functions 

  • Ability to analyze and define integration needs with secondary application and ability to create and execute effective testing scenarios of developed application solutions.
  • Provide operational support for Enterprise functional users within the University's Enterprise System and related web-based applications. Oversees and provides training for new users on University's Enterprise System functionality and audit capabilities.
  • Develop and modify functional documentation to support operations and training.
  • Manages projects, people, and tasks to ensure goals and objectives are completed on time.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment and must have the ability to lead specific teams.
  • Works closely with database administrators, software development engineers and other technical people to maintain systems, facilitate upgrades and act as the liaison between the end-user and technical support group.
  • Works collaboratively with administrative offices to define, develop and document office and inter-office policies and procedures. Must be able to carry out needs assessment, system integration and design support and general change management support.
  • Proactively supports users in the creation of reports from transactional databases and data marts’ including data analysis using the university’s designated reporting tools ensuring institutional data is readily available to senior administrators and managers as well as regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Liaise with vendors/financial institutions/government agencies/University departments for electronic data transmissions/uploads/interfaces to and from the University’s Enterprise System.
  • Participate in development, management and operational integration of Workflow and Business Process Improvement Teams, Special Projects and Strategic Reporting initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities include assisting with module security planning and management, testing, software defect management and high-level module functional support, process oversight and scheduling.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree or Equivalent  
  • Minimum of Five to seven years of experience.
  • The Senior ITBA must have extensive experience working with administrative support systems and a strong understanding of the overall administrative support systems for higher education. Extensive knowledge of University business processes and functions is required.
  • A strong understanding of relational database structures and relational database-reporting tools is required. 
  • The University uses the Oracle Hyperion Interactive Reporting System and experience with this tool is desirable.
  • A general knowledge and experience in client/server administrative application structures and environment is also required.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, are required. A demonstrated ability to work within a closely-knit team environment is required.

Additional Information 

This position is classified as Exempt, grade N. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 90,430.00 to $ 135,640.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
