Description of Work Unit | Campus Recreation, an auxiliary unit in the Division of Student Affairs, provides wellness and healthy lifestyle oriented programs, events, and services to Colorado State University students and employees via seven programmatic areas: Student Recreation Center, Aquatics, Fitness, Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Outdoor Program, and Climbing Wall. Eight service units – Membership Services, Business Office, Information Technology, Communications/Marketing, Facility Scheduling/Event Management, Custodial Services, Equipment Management, and Maintenance – support the program functions to provide seamless customer service to CSU students, employees, and their families. Campus Recreation facilities, programs, and services promote a sense of community, support student development through leadership and employment opportunities, and encourage the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle to a diverse University population. Campus Recreation employs 34 career staff, up to 50 part-time staff, and 300+ student staff who are committed to providing a safe, welcoming space to CSU community members from all backgrounds and fitness levels. Position Summary | The Senior Intramural Sports Manager will report directly to the Intramural Sports Coordinator and is an integral leadership and administrative role on the Intramural Sports Team. The position requires previous employee supervision and officiating experience for the managerial responsibilities that include nightly supervision of intramural sports officials, oversight for operations/delivery of intramural sporting events, evaluation and recommending student employees discipline, developing and teaching officials and managers, as well as general program oversight and responsibilities. Incumbent will be essential in providing a uniform training program to new IM Managers that will allow extended on-shift shadowing to reinforce classroom training and maintain the high standard held by the IM Manager position. The position is 25 hours per week. |
Position Minimum Qualifications | * A demonstrated understanding of intramural program operations and major intramural sport rules. * Demonstrated conflict resolution and customer service skills * Demonstrated leadership characteristics including, but not limited to, ability to train sports officials on how to lead a group of peer officials * Demonstrated employee evaluation experience; specifically, sport officials’ evaluation and development * Worked a minimum of one full academic year within an intramural sports or competitive sports program at a manager or supervisor level. * Ability to effectively assess risk management issues and deal with them according to intramural best practices * Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date * Not a current Colorado State University student |
Preferred Qualifications | * Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management * Two or more years of experience working within an intramural sports or competitive sports program * NIRSA extramural tournament officiating experience * Officiating experience and rules knowledge in multiple sports or High School Certifications * Graduate Assistance experience within an intramural sports or competitive sports program * Current sports official (ie: collegiate, high school, youth sports) |
