Position Summary
Serving as a member of the Dean & Director’s cabinet, the HR Business Partner will support the full spectrum of HR services at VIMS. This leadership role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, fostering a high-engagement culture in a fast-paced environment. The HR Business Partner will shape HR policies and practices to amplify the organization’s goals, nurture talent, and enhance employee engagement. They will be a proactive coach to management, adept at handling a high volume of work with a results-oriented mindset. We are looking for a flexible leader with outstanding communication skills and a commitment to innovative HR solutions that will help us maintain our momentum in delivering exceptional internal employee experiences and successful recruitment. This position will report to both the Dean & Director of VIMS and the Director of HR Business Partners within University Human Resources at William & Mary.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Several years of experience as a Human Resources Business Partner, with a track record of strategic HR partnership and hands-on implementation (typically 4+ years)
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise across HR functions including – Organizational Design, Talent Development, Workforce Planning, Compensation, and Talent Acquisition
  • Experience producing results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Experience with designing organizations and change management
  • Strong understanding of HR laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience with HR metrics and data analysis to inform business decisions
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and comfortable with technology to streamline HR processes
  • Ability to design and implement effective training, development, and retention programs
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization

  • Previous higher education experience

Advertised Pay Range Up to $105,000, commensurate with experience.
