Position Summary

UNM Neurology seeks a Sr. Fiscal Services Tech to join our accounting team. This position is responsible for processing, maintaining, and assisting with records, indices, and associated transactions. This position will support faculty and staff with fiscal requests, purchasing processes and policies, address concerns regarding financial transactions, and assist with resolving issues regarding indices, funds, and budgets. Additionally, this position will cross train with the Accountant 3 and the Contract and Grant Administrator on unrestricted budgets and funding in regards to Neurology’s research mission.

Neurology is a multi-faceted academic clinical department in the UNM School of Medicine, that has continued to expand and grow and offer its employees opportunities for professional development and advancement. Neurology supports a hybrid work schedule (after training is completed) with two to three days of working in the department and the remainder working remotely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·       Coordinate with accounting team to process journal entries

·       Process EPAFs for labor distributions and non-standard payments

·       Assist accounting team regarding balancing indices

·       Provide support for department faculty and staff in responding to requests and addressing concerns regarding fiscal transactions

·       Reviews and submit purchasing documents

·       Interacts with and trains department staff regarding financial policies and procedures

·       Serves as liaison with core office representatives and funding source representatives in the resolution of financial issues

·       Coordinate and cross-train with accounting team on restricted and unrestricted accounting transactions

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

·       Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

·       Ability to understand and apply University policies and procedures and Federal/State financial regulations

·       Strong organizational and follow-up skills

·       Ability to access, search, and navigate on the web

·       Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Word software

·       Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

·       Research, analytical, and critical thinking skills

·       Ability to use independent judgment and to manage confidential information
