Scope of Position

The Financial Services Department provides financial information, support, and analysis to all operations within the Health System and the Medical Center. Financial information systems are maintained and supported to provide financial information and analysis of existing operations and proposed programs/projects from a financial perspective. The department provides support to the Business Units for monthly financial and statistical reporting, operating and capital budgeting, revenue management and charge entry support, reimbursement support and cost report filings, cost accounting and managed care system support, property management, accounts payable, and a wide variety of financial analysis. This position is committed to developing comprehensive and complex financial analysis of programs and projects, which incorporate knowledge, and understanding of healthcare and Medical Center operations. This includes knowledge and experience with financial reports, general ledger, budgeting, cost accounting, reimbursement/payment methods, clinical practices/information, etc. The position prepares analyses reports, and presentations for management, clinical staff, etc. which are summarized and demonstrates the key issues while being supported by available and developed data. The duties and responsibilities of this position are project oriented.

Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst supports the overall function of the Health System Finance Department, by providing complex analysis of labor expense & the overall impact to the financial performance of the medical center.

The Sr. Financial Analyst leads data analysis and research projects related to labor expense to solve problems and provide actionable in-sights

for organizational decision-making. The Sr. Financial Analyst will typically work with pre-programmed software and warehoused data and will identify, collect, and integrate data assets from other sources as needed to address organizational needs and priorities.  Position will work collaboratively with other functional areas of the organization to identity and integrate data sources as needed to address organizational needs and priorities.

The Senior Financial Analyst will utilize Workday Reporting to develop & maintain Financial Reporting that incorporates multiple data streams to assist in organization decisions. The position will complete delivered training related to Workday Reporting to continue to develop best practices and efficiencies within Financial Reporting.

The Senior Financial Analyst will work with Business Leaders to understand and design analytical approaches to open-ended strategic business problems through reports, dashboards & presentations.  This position will work with Finance Leaders across OSUP, OSUWMC, & COM to create and maintain a Combined Financial Statement for the Ohio State Health System.  This position will maintain dashboards within Workday of Financial Reports, to be utilized by organizational leaders.

The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in the submission of various surveys related to Healthcare operations, including but not limited to, FTEs, Salaries, Payor Mix, Patient Revenue, Admissions, Patient Days, and Discharges.  The Senior Financial Analyst will establish professional working relationships with areas outside of Finance to assist with these datasets as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Power Point, and Access. Workday financial experience preferred. Must possess analytical and problem solving skills and demonstrate the ability to work independently and take initiative for process improvement. Must demonstrate ability to ensure quality in own work and develop strategies to assure accurate presentations.
