Position Overview:

As the Senior Director of Enterprise Portfolio Management, you will be at the forefront of influencing and driving strategic initiatives that propel our institution forward through excellent portfolio planning, strategic utilization of resources, and successful project delivery and organizational change management. You will collaborate and partner with colleagues across the University and oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with the University’s IT Stewardship approach. 
From major infrastructure enhancements to cutting-edge academic programs, your leadership will shape the trajectory of our university’s growth and success. You will collaborate and partner with a diverse set of stakeholders to enable the success of their groups in support of the University’s mission. The Sr. Director leads and oversees the University’s IT stewardship (governance) approach, portfolio and project management, and organizational change management groups within the Enterprise Portfolio Management unit. 
This position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Enterprise Solutions & Delivery and is a member of the OIT extended senior leadership team. The primary work location for this position is in the IT Center located on the Main Campus of the University next to the Hesburgh Library and within sight of the Golden Dome. This position is eligible for the University’s hybrid work program, with 4 days in person and 1 day per week remote.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive portfolio management framework to prioritize, monitor, and optimize university-wide projects.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, academic departments, and administrative units to align project goals with institutional priorities.
  • Serve as IT Lead for the Executive IT Steering Committee
  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the IT stewardship, portfolio & project managers and teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Leverage data-driven (financial and other key data) insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement across the portfolio. Develop scenarios to help guide decision options.
  • Champion best practices in project & portfolio management, governance, change management and risk mitigation to ensure successful project delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in enterprise portfolio management or related fields
  • Experience leading large-scale, complex projects
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PgMP, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with change management and the Prosci methodology are preferred.
