Job Summary
Develops and executes a comprehensive corporate and foundation relations program that secures gifts, grants and donations from corporations and foundations to support university priorities. Provides leadership for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation prospects; manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, both local and national. Prepares or oversees preparation of proposals to corporate and foundation prospects based on university priorities and prospect interest. Manages meetings between University leadership and prospective donors. Provides functional guidance to development staff in creation and execution of fundraising proposals and initiatives. Interacts professionally with all internal and external stakeholders using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, urban studies, communications, public relations or related fields.
· six (6)+ years of experience in hands-on fundraising and fundraising management (corporate or foundation relations).
· Experience securing major gifts and grants from corporations and foundations in a higher education or nonprofit setting
· Experience building and maintain strong relationships with industry executives, foundation representatives, and key university stakeholders
· Leadership competency including entrepreneurial thinking, coaching and mentoring, and desire to explore new strategies and opportunities
· Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree, preferably in business, urban studies, communications, public relations or related fields.
· five (5)+ years of administrative and leadership experience in a complex organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
· Demonstrated ability and success in securing major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, or other private funding sources.
· Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with academic leadership, faculty, alumni, prospects, donors and volunteers.
· Knowledge of best practices within the development field.
· Demonstrated ability in recruiting and managing high-level volunteers and engaging them effectively through fundraising, consultation and advocacy. Knowledge of development profession ethical standards and the ability to use discretion in interactions with donors and prospects.
· Ability to travel off-campus.
· Demonstrated ability to translate highly technical or discipline-specific concepts and information into language appropriate for general audiences. Project management experience.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint
