Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Sr. Director Promotion of Well-being for the RBHS Office of Clinical and Health Affairs.
Under the direction of and reporting to the RBHS Senior Vice Chancellor for Clinical and Health Affairs/Vice President of Health Affairs (VPHA, Rutgers University), the Sr. Director for Promotion of Well-being shall oversee and align the strategies of RBHS, Office of Clinical and Health Affairs related to well-being. The Sr. Director will focus on integrating the well-being related operations, products, and strategies of RBHS Clinical and Health Affairs, in close coordination and collaboration with Rutgers Health and other entities through strategic planning, project and program oversight, and alignment of key stakeholders and initiatives. Responsibilities will include identification, development, and implementation of strategic affiliations and business development efforts related to RBHS Clinical Affairs’ well-being functions and other divisions as required, business plan development in support of these affiliations, and serve as a key partner with affiliated organizations and regional leadership in development and implementation of market growth plans. The Sr. Director may contribute to the educational mission of one of the RBHS schools by teaching up to one course and/or by advising and mentoring masters and doctoral students. The Sr. Director will actively participate in scholarly activities including conceptualizing, conducting, and publishing research contributing to the field of well-being and identifying external funding opportunities through grant support. The Sr. Director will supervise staff within the Office of Clinical and Health Affairs/Promotion of Well-being.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Serves as a key leader in the development, implementation and evaluation of well-being programs, quality improvement, performance metrics, and practice transformation strategies to improve health and well-being of the RBHS community.
  • Supports efforts to align well-being strategies across RBHS and supports the delivery of an integrated health and well-being approach across all areas of service delivery at RBHS.
  • Participates as a key member of the leadership team in the development, implementation and evaluation of innovative health and well-being, quality and care transformation strategies. Contributes to the overall management and strategic direction of RBHS as part of the management team.
  • Advises the Senior Vice Chancellor for the Office of Clinical and Health Affairs, Deans, Unit Directors and Department Chairs on the strategic prioritization of well-being, outcome metrics and therapeutic areas and defining populations, geography, condition or other attributes as appropriate.
  • Recommends and assists in the development and dissemination of communications/materials and in the identification and deployment of communication mediums/modalities. Maintains the Promotion of Well-being website to ensure excellent communication of programmatic offerings.
  • Create an office that builds, connects, and supports a comprehensive program based on the 8 Dimension of Wellness and employs settings and whole systems approaches to develop the RBHS campus culture to promote health and well-being for all community members.
  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with major stakeholders including principal teaching hospitals, clinical affiliates, and accountable care organizations to ensure well-being programs address improvements in the health and well-being of the community. Builds relationships with partners to jointly define accountability, quality, and incorporate feedback on well-being initiatives.
  • Assists the Senior Vice Chancellor for the Office of Clinical and Health Affairs in strategic communications, collects information, plans meetings, preparing and completing special reports originating from special projects and/or committees.
  • Develops a structure that regularly surveys our community to assess mental health status, needs, and the success of our programs. Collects data about utilization of mental health and wellness services to stakeholders.
  • Participates in policy development and short- and long-range planning by identifying needs and providing the SVC of Office of Clinical and Health Affairs with relevant information. Assists in monitoring the attainment of overall goals and objectives.
  • Facilitates trainings and leads group discussion as appropriate throughout RBHS, such as peer support groups and training.
  • Forecasts and reviews trends and developments which will affect current and future service delivery of well-being.
  • Creates figures, tables, graphs, and charts, which are integrated into reports, lectures, manuscripts for publication, grant applications and posters for audio visual presentations.
  • Contributes to RBHS outreach activities to build new partnerships to facilitate the development of a comprehensive, geographically dispersed, integrated academic health network.
  • Acts as a role model for customer service and improved quality.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their skills and knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Supports the University’s goal on diversity and EEO goals and objectives concerning employment and promotional opportunities.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. This includes higher education and health policies in particular.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Terminal Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Healthcare, or a related discipline plus a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively more responsible related professional and/or administrative experience in either the public or private sectors of which Five (5) years shall have involved senior leadership experience. 
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

  • Strong understanding of the components of well-being.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong project management and program development skills.
  • Experience in developing scientific manuscripts.
  • Excellent skills in the Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other similar programs used to develop outstanding presentations.
  • Experience teaching or conducting training sessions.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions.
  • Experience in preparing and updating databases and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
