The University of Miami is currently seeking a Senior Clinic Assistant to work Applebaum MRI Center in Miami. The incumbent works directly with patients and under the direct supervision of the MRI technologist and chief technologist. The incumbent also aids in providing patient care and duties related to MRI hospitals and clinic departments except doing an actual operation of the MRI machine.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Must be able to work in both administrative and clinical environments. Exceptional customer service and patient care skills. Ability to interview and screen patients of all age groups related to safety issues with magnetic resonance imaging.

  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive relationship with patients, physicians, and other MRI center staff.

  • Ability to perform all responsibilities as a professional with diligence to establish professional codes of conduct and ethics.

  • Submits signed MRI screening forms to technologists, and to MRI confirmation and/or MRI implant clearance personnel to initiate retrieval of medical records, x-rays, and other pertinent reports. Tracks patient’s schedule, procedures, and other modalities of exams. Work with an attitude of teamwork, which is focused on delivering quality patient and family

  • centered care in a safe, efficient, effective, and timely manner.

  • Communicates to the MRI technologist if difficult or unable to obtain pertinent information from the patient or patient companion. Travels within the facility and campus to retrieve records, forms, or CDs. Perform venipuncture (start IVs on patients prior to their procedure). May prepare laboratory specimens. Patient transportation and MRI room preparation. Assist technologists and Radiologists during an adverse event or patient allergies. Maintains accurate clinical records per hospital policy while preserving the confidentiality of patient information. Maintain and display knowledge and understanding of the importance of accurate and timely

  • documentation of care.

  • Assists with ordering, receiving, distributing, sorting, and storing supplies. Reports suspicious or unusual incidents to appropriate supervisory personnel. Assists with clerical duties, including receiving phone calls, sending faxes and emails, and scanning and copying documents. Ability to deal with stressful demands due to patient flow, emergencies, and stat requests, and

  • multiple interruptions.

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Adheres to The University of Miami and unit-level policies and procedures, and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Department Specific Qualifications                                                                                     

Education:

Must complete MRI Level 2 safety training within 1 week of being hired.

Certification and Licensing:

Current BLS for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHA.
