Department Summary
Audit & Advisory Services provides assurance and advisory services to help ensure that effective controls and processes exist within the University structure to facilitate the accomplishment of UCLA's mission.The mission of Audit & Advisory Services is to assist The Regents and university management in the discharge of their oversight, management and operating responsibilities through independent audits and consultations designed to evaluate and promote the system of internal controls, including effective and efficient operations.
Position Summary

UCLA is seeking an experienced auditor with superior analytical and communication skills who can be objective and measured in providing sophisticated audit services. Join the largest Audit Team in the University of California system and help perform financial, operational, information security, and compliance-related audit, advisory, and investigation projects that may involve topics of national significance. Senior Auditor candidates must have at least five years of relevant experience and a professional certification in a related designation. Higher education or health care knowledge is desirable.


Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • 5 Minimum five years' experience as an Internal Auditor, or equivalent experience. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skill in initiating and performing complex audit assignments from planning stage through completion and exit conference. (Required)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting principles and techniques; understanding of the fundamentals of economics, commercial law, taxation, finance, statistical analysis, and electronic data processing. (Required)
  • Ability to recognize and evaluate areas of internal control weaknesses for determination of audit emphasis. (Required)
  • Skill in applying established internal auditing standards, procedures, and techniques required in the performance of financial, operational, compliance, and/or special investigation audits. (Required)
  • Skill in developing clear, concise, relevant audit programs as a basis for comprehensive audit coverage. (Required)
  • Skill in communicating effectively with all levels of auditee personnel, both on a one-to-one basis and in group presentations, stressing qualities of tact, discretion, and persuasiveness, to provide information and to explain purpose and scope of audit procedures. (Required)
  • Knowledge of improvements and current developments in internal audit standards, procedures, and techniques. (Required)
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, management, and other campus departments. Ability to work in a team modem collaborating with others. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently, setting priorities which accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibility. Skill in supervising audit teams including delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance through initial Technical Supervisory Reviews and Project Evaluations. (Required)
  • Skill in supervising, training, and scheduling workflow to accomplish established objectives. (Required)
  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct audit reports to describe findings, evaluations of efficiency of processing systems, adequacy of controls, and recommendation for corrections or upgrade. (Required)
  • Higher education or healthcare knowledge desirable. Exposure to TeamMate a plus. (Preferred)

  • 5% Travel to audit areas may be needed depending on the project assigned. Travel may be required for training.
