Position Summary
The Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Nursing within the Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON) at the University of Memphis is part of a collaborative College Leadership Team. The Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs provides College-level leadership, management, and oversight of all academic degree programs and certificates across all levels (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral) and modalities of instruction. Reporting to the Dean of the LCON, the Senior Associate Dean serves as the facilitator and coordinator for Academic Program Directors within the LCON to ensure compliance with academic policies, manages program evaluation to ensure that UofM maintains high-quality educational programs, ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements, and serves as a champion and leader for excellence in instruction and curriculum design across all modalities of instructional delivery. The Senior Associate Dean provides leadership and oversight to the Assistant Dean for Lambuth Undergraduate Programs and the Simulation Learning Center and represents LCON at various student, faculty, and university functions. In addition, the Senior Associate Dean serves on university and college-wide committees and performs general administrative and leadership roles for the College and UofM.
Minimum Position Qualifications
An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a bachelor’s in nursing.
A distinguished record of teaching, research/scholarship, and professional service.
Expertise and experience in curriculum development and teaching, preferably at all three levels (BSN, MSN, and Doctorate) in academic nursing.
Expertise and experience in academic program evaluation, including meeting accreditation standards. Demonstrated leadership qualities – a participatory leadership style that fosters respect and collegiality; collaborative leadership that forges productive academic partners, including inter-professional education.
The Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Nursing must have strong managerial skills, including organization, pro-activeness, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and integrity-based communication; the ability to be creative, to take appropriate risks; use data/evidence to make timely decisions; openness to diverse ideas as well as constructive feedback; have high work ethics with a strong sense of professional responsibility and accountability; and attend both process and outcomes.
Qualifications commensurate with appointment as a tenured Associate or Full Professor.
