The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with advanced knowledge in Active Directory, ADFS, SAML, LDAP, Azure AD and other authentication mechanisms as well as general Windows Server knowledge and experience. The successful applicant will have a background in the administration of a DIAD v3 tiered administrative forest(s) and/or a zero trust security model. The incumbent will be responsible for synchronization of AD attributes using Microsoft Identity Manager, Azure AD connect, as well as automated workflows implemented with Quest Active Roles toolsets.

In addition, the applicant will have administered PAW systems and PAM technologies for security and daily administrative duties. The engineer will obtain requirements and work closely with the Enterprise IT Architect and other automation team members to deliver robust and secured authentication solutions for all enterprise applications. The incumbent will have a good background in technical writing and documentation.

In conjunction with the Enterprise IT architect, the incumbent provides system design proposals, analysis, maintenance, monitoring, cost analysis and hardening designs (including data security) of systems and servers including installations, upgrades, patches, as well as documentation with primary responsibility for the implementation, management, support and maintenance of various system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all applications and operating systems as part of the on-call rotation.

The incumbent works with various parties to bring technical projects to completion as well as designing and managing Active Directory Services, Federation Services, DFS and integration of AD/ Azure AD with various system platforms and related services.

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Related experience: in the design, deployment, maintenance of complex IS hosting environments and Active Directory application integration experience.
  • Windows 2012, 2016, 2019+ administration experience.

  • MCSE Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

  • MCSA Microsoft Cloud Platform Certification.

  • Hyper-V hypervisor experience.

  • Quest Active Roles experience.

  • Basic Knowledge of IT Project Management techniques/processes.

  • Proofpoint administration experience.

  • Technical writing, technical documentation library management.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,200 - $192,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.47 - $92.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
