Sports and Recreation Graduate Assistant

Intramural & Club Sports and Recreation at the University of Charleston, housed in the Division of Student Life, seeks a dynamic and talented Graduate Assistant for Sports and Recreation to help us achieve our vision of being an elite campus recreation program.

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Involvement and Intramural Sports, the Graduate Assistant for Sports & Recreation will assist with the management, administration, and supervision of the following areas:

  • Outdoor Recreation Center Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the outdoor recreation center, including management of all participant registration, equipment rental procedures
    • Equipment Maintenance
    • Watersport Supervision
  • Intramural Sports and Club Sports programs:
    • Including the planning, development, and implementation of all offered activities and sports
    • The recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of Intramural Sports Officials, Scorekeepers, and Sport Club organizations, in addition to working in the outdoor recreation center on campus
    • Budget planning, league, and tournament scheduling, sport/event programming, scheduling of employees, and assisting in policy and procedure development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to complete and obtain an Open Water Lifeguard Certification
  • Experience officiating one or more of the following:  flag football, volleyball, soccer, softball, or basketball
  • Consideration for the position is contingent upon successful admission to a UCWV master’s program

Compensation and Start Date:

  • This position will be available on August 1, 2021
  • Full Tuition to the Strategic Leadership Program or Masters of Business Administration Program
