Perimeter College is looking for a dynamic, innovative team leader to serve as the Project Director, Prison Education Project. This position will work under general supervision of the Associate Dean for Student Success.

This position will facilitate Georgia State University Prison Education Project’s mission to provide higher education to incarcerated individuals throughout the state of Georgia. With the creation of this position, GSUPEP will be able to expand its offerings to more students and more prisons. The Project Director will support the department with duties such as:

  • Provide leadership for all aspects of the GSU Prison Education Project, working closely with state agencies (Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice) and federal agencies (Department of Education) to facilitate all onsite instruction.
  • Manage GSU processes such as admission, registration, fundraising, financial aid, and public relations, and relations with the Georgia Department of Corrections and Department of Juvenile Justice such as site recruitment, student recruitment and technology.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the GSUPEP, working collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Student Success, ensuring it aligns and complies with the strategic plan of the University, and adheres to all applicable GSU, USG and accreditation policies.
  • Evaluate, assess and track the efficacy of course instruction to ensure that favorable student outcomes are met.
  • Coordinate with the Foundations Office to procure additional funding sources for the project. Assess and report the appropriate use of funds from private donors and federal agencies.
  • Prepare and maintain all budgetary activities for GSUPEP, inclusive of, but not limited to, student tuition and fees, books and supplies, instructor compensation and travel, and other miscellaneous expenses.
  • Work collaboratively with all project stakeholders, including student support services, to ensure that all students that are admitted are appropriately advised, enrolled and receive financial support as needed.
  • Work with Public Relations and the Marketing Office to raise the public profile and awareness of the GSUPEP through various print, electronic and media platforms at Perimeter College, Georgia State University and other media outlets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - External

Bachelor's degree and six years relative experience; or a combination of education and related experience. 

 

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Knowledge of Higher Education in prison, policy and procedure.

Experience in leading change, developing partnerships and building teams.

Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Possess and demonstrate unquestioned integrity, sense of accountability, wisdom and good judgement.

 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, experience working in an academic setting.
