Job Description

SUMMARY
To provide assessment and therapy to maximize student's expressive and receptive language and communication skills

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide speech & language therapy to students via individual, small group, and classroom sessions to support students' communicative development
Create and update students' communication aides and systems regularly
Work with teachers to create optimal learning environments to maximize the use of aided communication materials
Collaborate with occupational therapists in developing and implementing oral motor and feeding programs
Train and support teachers and staff in the use of assistive technology strategies and high-tech communication modalities
Evaluate school needs; make recommendations for purchase of computer software/hardware and assistive technology
Assist with screenings of potential students
Consultation and training to classroom staff, student volunteers and practicum students
Pursue the continuation of education in current technology available to students with intensive special needs and lead in-school professional development session around communication and AAC
Conduct annual assessments, assist with screening potential students, and complete Individual Education Plans and quarterly reports for each student
Participate in weekly team meetings and work collaboratively with staff
Supports the mission of the Boston College Campus School

Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Masters degree in Communication Disorders and Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC)
Related Work Experience
One year of experience working with students who lack functional speech and experience in the use of assistive technology
