Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a part-time Student Services Specialist! Working under direct supervision of the Assistant Director, advocates for, coordinates support for, and maintains records for an assigned caseload of students. Contacts assigned caseload of students to ensure that accurate information and instructions are provided throughout the student's academic career. Outreach takes place via email, phone, online chat, texting, and/or personal visits to provide support and direction as needed. 


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Maintains a caseload of students and ensures these students receive personalized outreach and support throughout the student’s academic career.
  • Advocates for these students to resolve issues associated with their possible departure and encourage persistence. These efforts include constant communication, training, and cross-campus collaboration.
  • Collects, analyzes, and documents student academic information and progress. Maintains confidential records, and/or other documents related to students.
  • Assists in the development and production of print, on-line, and social media materials and outreach to encourage student contact for support as needed.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree and two years of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling four years.

  • Skills in organization and coordination for efficiency of workload productivity.

Abilities    
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a diverse group or
  • individuals.
  • Ability to instruct and motivate students to continue their education.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member with other staff members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability and experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word.
