Job Description Summary:

Serves as a member of the Compensation Team supporting the Classification and Compensation system and processes.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

1) Conducts analysis of qualifications and work experience for salary placement of new faculty and staff. Conducts job offers. Schedules orientation and handles communications with selected candidates and supervisors.  If required, works with the analysts on revised salary offers.
2) Processes offer letters, temporary assignment pay recommendations and other compensation-related actions.
3) Maintains various compensation logs and files. Compiles and generates reports as needed.
4) Updates and inputs job descriptions into job description database.
5) Maintains and updates the Compensation Information Manual and other compensation materials.
6) Maintains and updates the HR Compensation website.
7) Organizes and oversees retention of electronic and paper files for the Compensation area.
8) Answers inquiries regarding compensation issues; composes and edits correspondence as required.
9) Assists with salary research; verifies data and information.
10) Performs and audits mathematical computations for compensation reports and various projects and processes.
11) May assist with training sessions regarding compensation procedures, policies, and processes.
12) May participate in testing system changes related to compensation.
13) May design and produce handouts, fliers, newsletters, brochures, manuals or other documents.
 

Knowledge

* Federal and state wage and salary laws, regulations, and processes, to include overtime and compensatory time.
* Compensation and classification methodologies.
* General Human Resources practices and principles.
* Administrative procedures, principles, and practices.
* Customer service principles and practices.
 

Skills

* Maintaining an established work schedule. Peak periods may require evening and weekends.
* Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
* Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
* Ability to present compensation information to employees and supervisors.
* Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
* Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
* Interpreting and applying rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
* Working with exacting accuracy.
 

Technology Skills

* Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
* May work with desktop publishing and updating of webpages.
 

Required Work Experience

* Two years related work experience.
 

Required Education

* Associate degree.
Four years of related work experience may substitute for this education requirement. Applicants who substitute work experience to meet the education requirement must use additional related work experience to meet the years of "Required Work Experience" for this position.  Please note that the college reserves the right to amend these terms of substitution at any time.
 

Preferred Education

* Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Licenses and Certification

* Professional Certifications: PHR or SHRM-CP.
 

Physical Requirements

* Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
