Position Summary
As a member of the Finance Team, this position is responsible for assisting with fiscal operations for the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS). Primary responsibilities include all aspects of accounting for Admissions, Recruitment, Alumni, Curriculum, and Administration for 13 division programs and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), tracking budgets and allocations (inclusive of endowments, federal and non-federal funding), and resolving accounting issues.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains systems to monitor division income and expense.
  • Assists with division financial policy preparation, implementation and training.
  • Manages financial system documents, division social, travel and grants budgeting documents.
  • Processes check requests, travel documents, purchase orders, blanket orders, interdepartmental orders, invoice statements, and other documents. Completes various budget adjustments and journals as necessary.
  • Assists with Quarterly reporting and reconciliation for 13 division programs and student group finances.
  • Oversees procurement card program, ensuring proper sourcing, documentation and approvals.
  • Implements development, production and distribution of financial reports.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and recommends changes in accounting procedures for the division.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Financial experience, preferably in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of university systems, especially Workday.
  • Familiarity with grants management.
  • Ability to perform the financial management of, and to think proactively and strategically about, a complex financial structure.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral/written communication skills, and customer service disposition.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with maturity and judgment to understand when to consult other team members about challenging issues.
  • Working knowledge of general office equipment and software, including Excel, word processing, Workday, and similar programs.


Required Qualifications

Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree in business/accounting with five plus years of experience in accounting, financial, auditing or related field, including word processing and spreadsheet.

Salary Range
$48,700.00 - $80,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
