Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Special Programs Coordinator, Advisor (Part-Time) 

DEPARTMENT: Business and Experiential Education

PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River

REPORTS TO:   Dean, Business and Experiential Education

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  

The Special Programs Coordinator - Advisor, Business and Experiential Education Congressional Funded Grant advises the program's students concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities. The Advisor assists students in making decisions concerning personal educational goals leading to graduation, as well as future educational plans, transfer opportunities, and/or career goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise students in Business and Experiential Education Congressional Funded Grant, individually and/or with groups regarding academic core and/or departmental requirements, appropriate class selection, academic policies and procedures, and campus resources.
  • Position students to meet requirements for graduation within appropriate periods while preparing them to meet future goals.
  • Maintain advising records and confidential student evaluation records.
  • Focus on customer service best practices when working with Bristol community members, including faculty, staff, and students. 
  • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol Community.
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

  • Minimum of a Bachler's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other field related to area of assignment.*
  • Minimum of three years of experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include college registration, academic advisement, career development, career experience, training, curriculum development, audio/visual or graphic production, grant administration, budget development, program/project management, event planning, administrative work in an academic environment, or personal computer operations.*
  • *An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Bristol's Business Administration Fast Track degree program.
  • Professional experience working with student information systems, including Banner and Degree Works.
  • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

Additional Information:

POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC/MTA, part-time, grant funded, non-benefitted, 18.5 hours per week unit position. This position is subject to grant budget appropriations.

SALARY:   $32.00 per hour.
