Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director, the Research Services Coordinator has primary responsibility for supporting Special Collections & Archives’ research, reference, and reproduction services. The Coordinator manages the department’s Reading Room and coordinates front-desk reference duties, including staffing the reference desk up to 20 hours. The Coordinator serves as the primary point person for on- and off-site researcher requests, researching and responding to reference questions, and as appropriate, referring questions to subject experts within and outside of the department. The Coordinator manages appointment, permission to publish, and scanning requests, the latter often with student assistants or in coordination with the Digital Archivist. The position works closely with the Collections Specialist to support the seamless circulation of materials and assists with stacks management duties, especially paging and refiling materials. The Coordinator also serves as the department’s expert in Aeon, the Special Collections & Archives online patron registration and requesting system.

Education/Skills Requirements
A Bachelor of Arts or Science degree is required. Applicants must be customer-service oriented with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; must be able to attend to work with accuracy, attention to detail and discretion, including the need for confidentiality; and must be comfortable working with a wide range of software, including web-based programs. Knowledge of or experience with library systems, particularly integrated library systems catalogs, and archival collections management software strongly preferred.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
One year of experience in a library, archives, cultural heritage, or office environment is required. Must have direct experience doing library and/or archival research and be familiar with fundamental principles of research. Experience working in a library and/or archives is strongly preferred.
The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal history background check. Please note that as part of the pre-employment process, we will be conducting reference checks, including contacting current or former supervisors, to verify employment history and performance.
Standard Work Days and Hours
This is a part-time position working 28 hours/52 weeks, (.70 FTE). with anticipated schedule of 1-5pm, Monday-Friday, plus an additional 8 hours scheduled (M-F) upon hire.
