- This recruitment is to fill one (1) full-time exempt position located within the Executive Director’s Office. The Partnership offers a modern hybrid work environment, which includes both remote and office building settings in Olympia, Tacoma and Seattle. All staff are required to report to offices and work sites as needed. Some staff may be required to work in an office setting more frequently than others if they are unable to effectively conduct work remotely or as business needs arise. All newly hired employees will be expected to report to the Olympia office on their first day of employment for onboarding. As the Puget Sound Partnership's Special Assistant for Federal Affairs, you will provide support to the Executive Team and the agency’s boards in pursuing federal policy initiatives. This support includes providing policy analysis and recommendations, and interact with external partners to advance, support, or be engaged in specific policy initiatives. A little bit about the Partnership The Puget Sound Partnership is a non-regulatory state agency leading the region’s collective effort to restore and protect Puget Sound. We are also one of the Executive Cabinet agencies under Governor Inslee’s Office. The Partnership brings together hundreds of partners to mobilize action around a common agenda, advance Sound investments, and advance priority actions by supporting partners. - Qualifications
- Required Experience, Competencies and Technical Skills (experience may be concurrent): Bachelor’s degree or above in environmental management, public policy, planning or related field with two years’ experience working with federal and Congressional policy makers OR Associates degree focusing on environmental management, public policy, planning or related field with four years’ experience working with federal and Congressional policy makers OR Six years of professional experience working with federal and Congressional policy makers Demonstrated success and breadth of experience in brokering meaningful compromises between polarized constituencies on controversial issues Familiarity with Puget Sound recovery and salmon recovery policy issues, particularly those with a federal nexus Commitment to advancing justice, diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
