Job Overview
Incumbent will serve in a confidential capacity to the Chief of Staff and Director, GUMC Special Projects (COSDSP) with line reporting to the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and the Executive Dean (EVP) and the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs (SADFAA) and other senior leadership on matters of a strategic, operational, administrative and personnel nature.

Under the general supervision of the COSDSP, this position co-manages the day-to-day functioning of the Office of the EVP. Handles as many issues as appropriate or as directed by the COSDSP directly and on behalf of the EVP as well as senior leadership and in collaboration with the COSDSP implements and promulgates appropriate decisions, taking appropriate actions in their stead and on their behalf both directly and indirectly. In close collaboration with the COSDSP, will aid in the management and oversight of the EVP’s direct reports that include Department Chairs, Deans, Directors, and liases with senior leadership at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) with regard to
clinicians on behalf of the EVP.


Assists the COSDSP and other senior leadership with regard to the Medical Center’s affairs as it relates to special projects on behalf of the EVP in implementation of strategic initiatives for the Medical Center and communicates those initiatives to the Medical Center and University community on behalf of Medical Center administration. Assists, and at times will be responsible for, developing, drafting and revising materials and communications; consults, strategizes, and collaborates with the COSDSP to understand positions and priorities as well as special interpretive reports and required information for important meetings (briefings, background information, etc.) and anticipates and
obtains additional information as needed. Works closely with the Office of Medical Center Finance, Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs, Financial Affairs, Medical Center Communications and Medical Center Development to appropriately control flow of information to the EVP and leadership and wider Medical Center community, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) as well as Alumni and external communities.
Work Interactions
Candidate reports directly to Chief of Staff and Director of Special Projects with line reporting to the Executive Vice President of the Medical Center with an indirect reporting to the Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs, and The Sr. Associate VP for Business Operations and Administration for the Medical Center.

Serves as a liaison for the Medical Center campus sectors on all matters that require the attention of the above to include EVP Administration, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Health Studies, BGRO Basic Science and Clinical Departments, Centers and LCCC, particularly as relates to projects impacting personnel, policies, employee relations and overall administrative protocols.

Close interaction with GUMC Administration, the Office of Faulty and Academic Affairs, Medical Center Finance Office, University President’s Office, Provost and Law Center and all offices relevant to the above including Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Affirmative Action (IDEAA), University Counsel, Office of Strategy and Communications, Payroll Office and the Tax Department.


Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience: Typically has a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 -7 years of senior administrative and project management experience within a healthcare environment. Knowledge of clinical services environment is helpful (consideration given to the combination of education and experience).

Ability to communicate with all members of an organization including faculty, staff/AAP and constituents effectively. Will help with communication and defining all GUMC policies /administrative processes. Must be able to work in both current and future deadlines simultaneously, excellent time-management and self-management and constantly anticipating upcoming needs and forward-thinking. Must be flexible and adaptable to sudden changes in workflow and demands. Exhibit professionalism in all interactions. Strong analytical and organizational skills are required. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws. Should be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Outlook, GMS, Silverpop, Virtual EMS and other standard office programs

Previous Workday experience preferred.
