Special Advisor - Energy Initiatives (Part-Time)

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, the Special Advisor for Energy Initiatives (Part-Time) advises the Chancellor, Senior Advisor, district and college leadership on new and innovative opportunities that support developing and scaling programming and partnerships in the clean energy sector. Performs related duties as required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

·       Partners with district leadership to manage and implement high-level initiatives associated with scaling clean energy programming for City Colleges, emphasizing program and curriculum development, grant proposals, employer engagement and strategic partnerships.

·       Represents City Colleges in the broader energy sector and industry, including civic tables, incubators, and partner events.

·       Advises district team in areas of academic programs, continuing education, and workforce with strategic insights related to program development and Chicago economic priorities related to the energy sector.

·       Supports proposals to private and public funders aligned with developing, expanding, and scaling technology partnerships and programming for City Colleges.

·       Researches national community college models for technology training, including scaled approaches to technology talent shortages, and innovative partnerships between the energy sector/industry and educational institutions.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To                       Senior Advisor

Direct Supervision          None

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field

·       Minimum of five years of progressively responsible management experience reporting directly to an executive, preferably in an educational environment

·       Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality, discretion, tact, and judgement

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·       Excellent organizational, management, and decision-making skills

·       Strong interpersonal skills

·       Ability to work effectively with senior managers across colleges and external stakeholders

·       Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders

·       Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism
