The Start Sooner program is a four-week residential program for incoming freshmen to earn college credit, discover OU, and engage in exciting activities on the Norman campus and across Oklahoma.
Sooner Guides will serve as peer advisors, mentors, and facilitators for all the components of the program. The focus of the program is on preparing students for success academically and personally in their college journey.
- Employment will begin for a few select dates in April and May, but primarily Summer (July 3rd - August 3rd).
- Applicants can be Camp Crimson Small Group Leaders, Camp Guides or Crimson Crew
- University housing and a meal plan are included with this position. Housing is required.
- After your online application is completed and reviewed, interviews will be conducted. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted with a time to sign-up for an interview between March 12-14.
- Each Sooner Guide will be subject to background checks and Student Misconduct checks. Guides will not be hired until completed.

Required Education: Must be enrolled in the Spring Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
- Must attach Spring 2024 class schedule
- Sooner Guides must either be a rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing to apply and work for Start Sooner.
Skills:
- A desire to work with a diverse group of high school and college students in a team environment.
- Be able to develop authentic relationships with incoming freshmen.
- Mature, prompt and work well in teams.
Department Preferences:
- Familiarity with campus resources, enjoy planning programs, and administrative details.
