Job Description:

Summary
The Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC) in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications for a Radiation Therapist in the hospital's oncology section. LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for the companion, equine, and food animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents, interns, technicians, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state of the art care.

This position will be responsible for providing diagnostic ultrasound to veterinary patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from a radiologist, maintain patient records, and provide functional teaching to intern, residents, technicians and students. In addition, this position will maintain quality control in accordance with hospital and radiology departmental standards and assist with preventative maintenance of equipment to minimize technical malfunctions as well as make appropriate adjustments to equipment and patients in the event of an equipment failure.

The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be self motivated, able to work independently or as a team, maintain confidentiality, and be detail oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational qualities and effective oral and written communications are necessary to be successful in this position. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work with and directly supervise the work of others. The ideal candidate will have professional maturity with a leadership style that contributes to a positive culture, and have a compassionate, and empathetic nature towards the clients and patients of the Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center. Incumbent will be required to work with radiation on a regular basis.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Example of Duties
• Performs diagnostic ultrasonography procedures.
• Consults with interpreting physician regarding exam findings.
• Documents exam information.
• Evaluates images of ultrasound exams.
• Performs equipment calibration and sterilization to prescribed standards.
