$10,000 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 4 equal installments over 24 months in 6-month increments.

JOB SUMMARY:

Duke Women’s Health Associates, a clinic in the Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is seeking a full time sonographer to join our team.  Duke Women’s Health Associates has clinic locations in Raleigh, Durham and Morrisville; this position will be based primarily in Raleigh but may provide coverage in other locations as needed.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and documents clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to, obstetric, gynecologic, and interventional procedures.
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the physician.
  • Coordinates with referring providers and other clinic staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient’s needs.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies.
  • Performs infection control procedures such as vaginal probe HLD.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC); or equivalent combination of training and/or experience (may substitute with ARDMS certification on or before December 31, 2000)
  • Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty (ies) as appropriate.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.
  • Level I RDMS registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or registry eligible and become registered within twelve (12) months of employment.
  • Must obtain ARDMS certifications in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular as required by each entity within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification

JOB HOURS:

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
