Job Summary
Auburn University Waste Reduction and Recycling Department seeks a Solid Waste Technician to assist with the solid waste and recycling programs on campus by servicing waste and recycling containers and other receptacles inside and outside university buildings.

Essential Functions
  • Services solid waste and recycling containers including, but not limited to, carts, dumpsters, compactors, and other receptacles.
  • Operates equipment to collect and remove waste and recycling from university grounds.
  • Removes and replaces waste and recycling bins when necessary.
  • Keeps areas around dumpsters and waste drop off points clean and in neat order.
  • Works alongside other departments who handle solid waste materials.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Level I – High school diploma or equivalent

Level II –
High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of experience in solid waste and recycling techniques
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience for advanced levels, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience.
