Position Summary
The Bioinformatics team at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) at UNC-Chapel Hill is recruiting a software engineer to develop, maintain, and support database applications. These applications include the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) and Rapid Case Ascertainment (RCA). 
The Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is a specimen tracking system designed specifically to meet the immediate, inventory-style tracking needs of multiple health research projects. It provides centralized sample tracking for multiple core facilities at the Cancer Center and other parts of UNC including the School of Public Health.
The Rapid Case Ascertainment Shared Resource at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center facilitates cancer prevention and control research that requires early contact with patients. Rapid Case is a collaboration between UNC Lineberger, the North Carolina Central Cancer Registry (CCR), and participating hospitals in North Carolina to accelerate CCR’s reporting process for quick identification of cancer patients throughout the state.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master’s or Bachelors and 0-2 years’ experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience programming in JavaScript and Node JS.
Experience with SQL.
Experience with Oracle or another relational database.
Experience programming in Java.
Experience with git or other source control systems.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Previous experience developing applications and databases. Demonstrated work experience with Access, Visual Basic, and relational databases. Previous software development experience with Java, JavaScript, and Node JS or other web technologies is preferred. Experience querying databases using SQL.
