Job Description:

Summary:

The Human Neocortical Neurosolver (HNN, https://hnn.brown.edu ) is an open source software platform for cellular and circuit level investigation of human magneto- and electro-encephalography (MEG/EEG) signals. HNN is designed in a user-friendly environment to provide the MEG/EEG user community with a unique neural modeling tool to develop and test hypotheses on the multiscale neural origin of their data. HNN is distributed with a graphical user interface and can be accessed through a python-scripting interface, with extensive documentation and tutorials of use for each.  HNN is being developed with best-practices in open-source software design (https://github.com/jonescompneurolab/hnn-core ), including continuous integration, unit testing,  and contributing guidelines to encourage community engagement in its development and use.

HNN is developed and disseminated with support from the National Institutes of Health in the lab of Dr. Stephanie Jones in the Center for Computational Brain Science and Department of Neuroscience at Brown University. Our group combines human electrophysiological recordings and computational neural modeling techniques to study the mechanisms and meaning of brain dynamics in health in disease. We collaborate extensively with animal electrophysiologists and clinicians to develop data constrained models that are translationally relevant. The hired candidate will be a full-time staff scientist in the Jones lab and will serve as the lead software engineer and project manager for HNN development, maintenance and community support.

This Software Engineer position will require experience in open-source software design to take primary responsibility for the expansion, build, test, release, maintenance, support, and documentation of our multi-platform python-based software application.

If you enjoy traveling to different parts of the world, then there is the opportunity to do so as part of the training courses. The responsibilities of this position will ensure the long-term success and sustainability of HNN to have a positive impact on brain science discovery and human health.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 7/31/2028, which may be extended based upon available funding.
