Job Description

Salary:

$5,186.75 - $7,750.00 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

This position performs system design, analysis, programming, testing, and implementation of programs, modules,  processes, and/or applications to enhance the Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS) application that supports the accounting functions of The Texas A&M University System (TAMUS). The scope of this position involves producing detailed specifications used to develop programs and processes for computer applications, writing complex processes, and analyzing and documenting overall system concepts.


Responsibilities:

- Design system processes and program specifications, write and maintain code, and test end-products to ensure that they meet the end-users' needs.

- Meet with development team members and end-users to develop system specifications and troubleshoot the application.

- Provide quality assurance, ensuring that both programming and application standards are followed.

- Provide support to production control staff and other team members.

- Develop program documentation and provide training to clients and FAMIS staff on the use of  system modifications and/or enhancements. 

- Professional development. Read and research changes in technology related to job.

- Attend seminars, educational courses, etc. to develop and grow technical and professional skills. 

- Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years of business oriented application development/support/computing center experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Programming skills in one or more business oriented or web development languages. 

- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to meet with users to gather and document system requirements.       

- Must be able to work with other developers as part of a development team.

- Occasional work outside scheduled hours.   

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 5 years experience in software design and systems architecture.

- Team lead or project management experience.

- Mainframe web enablement and programming experience.

- Experience with Natural/ADABAS and/or ASP.NET with C#.Net.

- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
